Expand Your Reach With These Social Media Tips

There’s no denying that social media is here to stay and you can vastly expand your reach with the right social media strategy in place. Commercial real estate professionals have jumped into using social media to not only market their business but to gain new clients as well. Learn how to get the most out of your social media efforts with these tips:

Create Your Own Content

Content is king. People will follow you – or unfollow you – based on the content that you are sharing. Make sure your posts are relevant to your target audience. As a commercial real estate professional, your posts should relate to the CRE industry in general, the services you specialize in, your local market, and you can always include your property listings, reviews from happy clients, information about industry events, etc. The key is to create your own content that is engaging and valuable. Write your own blog posts, link back to your website, share your opinion, and offer value to your followers.

Be Authentic

Your followers want to get to know you! This is where your personal branding comes into play. What values do you represent? What are you passionate about? How are you different than your competition? Be authentic and relatable and let your followers get to know the real you. The more they like and relate to you, the more likely they will be to continue to follow you and ultimately work with you in the future.

Understand Social Proof

Have you ever looked at a new product online and formed an opinion about it based on others opinions? For example, if someone shares a post on social media and there are a ton of comments about how amazing that product is, it will likely peak your interest to try that product for yourself. We tend to follow the opinions of others, even when we don’t personally know the people. If something is very popular, there must be a good reason for that, right? If a post has a lot of likes, shares, or retweets, that post must be great, right? If a product has a ton of positive reviews, you will likely make your buying decision based on those, correct? That’s the power of social proof.

For your commercial real estate business, client reviews and testimonials can be used as an excellent form of social proof. Your prospective clients want to know that other clients have had a positive experience working with you, and those reviews will heavily weight their decision to work with you.

Be Consistent

Be consistent with your social media efforts. If you’re just starting out, pick one or two platforms that you can commit to – such as Twitter and LinkedIn. Make sure your profiles are complete and accurately reflect you and your brand. Post engaging content on a daily basis and interact with your followers. Focus on providing value to your followers and not simply trying to “sell” them.
