  • Duane Poppe, SIOR, CCIM is the Managing Principal at Lee & Associates Twin Cities. He brings an impressive background of industrial sales, leasing, and real estate to the Twin Cities market. Prior to Lee & Associates, Duane was the Vice President with Transwestern’s Minneapolis office specializing in industrial sales and leasing within the North Metro of Minneapolis-St. Paul. Duane also spent nine years with Cassidy Turley where he headed the industrial Department.

    In 2005 Duane was recognized with the Cassidy Turley Rising Star Award, Dorsey Circle of Excellence Award for production, and the MNCAR Rising Star of the Year. He has been named a CoStar Power Broker on several occasions, and consistently been a finalist for the MNCAR Transaction of the Year.

Can you tell me a little bit about your business? What do you specialize in and what does your day to day schedule look like?

Duane: I am the Managing Principal at Lee & Associates, and I specialize in industrial properties in the northwestern suburb of Twin Cities. My schedule varies from day to day, but I always layout a plan of what needs to get done each day. My plan includes everything from calls to emails, to paperwork, to meetings. First thing in the morning I like to have ‘Power Hour’ where I work through the most critical tasks first without the distraction of calls or emails. After that, I get started on paperwork, meetings, and prospecting for new deals.

When did you start using ClientLook and why did you choose ClientLook?

Duane: We started using ClientLook at the beginning of 2019. Prior to signing up, we had demos with all of the different CRM companies, and ClientLook aligned the most with what we wanted a CRM to be. After talking with other ClientLook users and getting feedback from people who use other CRM’s, we made a pros and cons list for each CRM and ClientLook was best suited for what we wanted to accomplish. It was the best choice for our business.

How easy was it to get your data converted into ClientLook?

Duane: Very easy! It was harder to get our data out of our old system, than it was to get it into ClientLook. The support team at ClientLook helped us every step of the way and it was a very smooth process.

What problems has ClientLook solved for you?

Duane: ClientLook has really helped me with organizing my information and data. The ability to relate and link tenants to owners and properties has been very helpful. Having everything properly grouped together, instead of having several different lists, has been extremely helpful. Other CRM platforms don’t let you connect everything so easily, so this was a feature that really stood out for us.

What features do you like the most about ClientLook?

Duane: The ease of use! I like that I can easily find data and move through the system quickly. It’s easy to connect people, properties, and deals so everything is related. I also like the accessibility; with the iPhone app I can access my database anytime.

What CRM solution were you using previously?

Duane: We were using Salesforce and it was very cumbersome because it wasn’t designed for our business. The basic version didn’t have everything we needed, so we would’ve had to pay to customize it to what we needed it to be for our commercial real estate business. I have been looking for something like ClientLook; it reminds me of our old ACT! databases that were so easy to use and customize on our own.

Please tell us about your experience with ClientLook:

Duane: Its been great! The entire process with ClientLook has been a wonderful experience. From the sales demo, to the onboarding, to the follow up calls with Greg Hoard, it’s all been so smooth, and all of our questions have been answered quickly. I schedule calls with Greg so I can continue to learn about the system and how to make it work for my business. There are so many great features that I haven’t fully utilized yet. At this point, I am focused on putting good data in (good data in = good data out). Ideally, I want the system to tell me who I need to call each day, based on the scheduled tasks that I have inputted.

What advice would you give to someone who is looking for a CRM?

Duane: I would tell them to stop searching and use ClientLook! It’s that simple.

How would you describe your overall experience with the ClientLook team?

Duane: My experience with the ClientLook team has been excellent! They’ve been there every step of the way, and the sales, onboarding, and follow up has been outstanding. Christopher did a great demo and really laid everything out for us; Keith helped with our data import; and Greg has been helpful with ongoing calls to make sure we’re fully utilizing the system.
